Scholars and Artists in Residence
The National Film and Sound Archive (NFSA) encourages and facilitates research into Australia's historic and contemporary moving image and recorded sound culture.
The NFSA offers Research Fellowships for established researchers and audiovisual practitioners with a record of significant achievement. Senior academics, scholars, writers, filmmakers, artists and archival professionals from Australia and overseas are encouraged to apply.
The fellowships involve a residency at the NFSA in Canberra, with accommodation supplied. Fellows can use the NFSA's collections to stimulate or otherwise inform an academic publication, a new sound or moving image work, or a live event.

The Indigenous Research Fellowship is an opportunity for Indigenous Australian researchers and creative practitioners to engage with the the national collection and contribute to Australia's historical and contemporary moving image and recorded sound culture.
The Centre also offers an Internship Program in collaboration with tertiary institutions in Australia and from overseas for students with outstanding research skills (at final year or post graduate level) to undertake research offered by the NFSA. The research projects will expand knowledge and understanding of the NFSA's collection and audiovisual and archival practices.
